High Seas Definitions
High Seas- a term of maritime law referring to the open ocean, an area outside of the exclusive economic zone, territorial seas, or internal waters of any state
Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ)- A zone that extends about 200 nautical miles from the coast of a country. This zone is recognized as being under the jurisdiction of the nation its coast it extends from, and other countries can be ejected from these waters
Straddling Stock- The FAO defines this as fish stocks that migrate between EEZs and the high seas. THis includes movement during diffrent stages of the life-cycle.
