High Seas Fisheries
What is it?
High seas fisheries focus on harvesting resources located in the high seas. The high seas are defined as a term of maritime law referring to the open ocean, an area outside of the exclusive economic zone, territorial seas, or internal waters of any state. These resources exclude species that stay on the continental shelf because they are still under the jurisdiction of the coastal nation.
